KeyNote's programs for kindergarten involve two sessions with an IPO musician in preparation for their attendance at an IPO dress rehearsal. Preparation by the player includes presenting the instrument, teaching the children about other musical instruments, and exposing the children to music basics.

The focus of the session is always on the specific pieces to be performed by the entire orchestra. Coming to the Mann Auditorium to see the orchestra in rehearsal is always a treat for children and the parents who accompany them. The program forms a bridge to the Family Concert series.
